The Security Risks of Near-Shoring to Mexico: Implications for Business Strategy
The perception that Mexico’s entire security environment is hopelessly chaotic and brutal is overstated. The reality is an emerging economic resurgence in the country, spurred by a business trend called “near-shoring.” With this economic recovery is a fragile recovery in Mexico’s security environment. Both signs are hopeful, but it is too early to pronounce both trends as a return to security “normalcy”. Changing dynamics of cartel-related violence and crime still have the potential to threaten economic progress.
